Estas reacciones son diferentes de las reacciones secuenciales, sin embargo, en que ni las reacciones paralelas ni las secuencias de reacciones son una serie de conversiones de un radical en otro; más bien, cada una consiste en dos o más reacciones distintas y completas que tienen lugar bajo un solo conjunto de condiciones.
