El último capítulo te orientó a las teorías relevantes para tu área temática; los niveles macro, meso o micro de análisis; y los supuestos o paradigmas de la investigación. Este capítulo utilizará estos elementos para ayudarte a conceptualizar y diseñar tu proyecto de investigación. Harás elecciones específicas sobre el propósito de tu investigación, métodos cuantitativos o cualitativos, y establecer la causalidad. También aprenderás cómo y por qué los investigadores utilizan métodos tanto cualitativos como cuantitativos en un mismo estudio.

Este capítulo discute o menciona los siguientes temas: negligencia y abuso infantil, acoso sexual, sistema de justicia penal, falta de vivienda, violencia sexual y doméstica, depresión y abuso de sustancias.
