Este capítulo se centra principalmente en los métodos de investigación cuantitativa, ya que el nivel de especificidad requerido para iniciar la investigación cuantitativa es mucho mayor que el de la investigación cualitativa. En la investigación cuantitativa, debes especificar cómo defines y planeas medir cada concepto antes de poder interactuar con tus participantes. En la investigación cualitativa, las definiciones surgen de cómo los participantes responden a sus preguntas. Debido a que tus participantes son los expertos, la investigación cualitativa no alcanza el nivel de especificidad y claridad requerido para la investigación cuantitativa. Por esta razón, nos centraremos principalmente en la medición cuantitativa y conceptualización en este capítulo, con subsecciones que abordan la investigación cualitativa.

En este capítulo se abordan o mencionan los siguientes temas: diagnósticos de salud mental y depresión, masculinidad, suicidio, delincuencia juvenil y sistema de justicia penal, abuso de sustancias y disparos de armas de fuego.
