    • 3.1: Terminología de los trastornos ácido-base
    • 3.2: La brecha aniónica
      El término brecha aniónica (AG) representa la concentración de todos los aniones no medidos en el plasma. Las proteínas con carga negativa representan aproximadamente el 10% de los aniones plasmáticos y constituyen la mayoría del anión no medido representado por la brecha aniónica en circunstancias normales. Los aniones ácidos (e.g., lactato, acetoacetato, sulfato) producidos durante una acidosis metabólica no se miden como parte del perfil bioquímico habitual de laboratorio.
    • 3.3: La relación Delta
      La relación Delta es a veces útil en la evaluación de la acidosis metabólica y está relacionada con la brecha aniónica y el amortiguamiento; se discutirá aquí antes de una discusión sobre la acidosis metabólica. La relación Delta se define como: Delta Ratio = Incremento de la brecha aniónica/Disminución en bicarbonato.
