- Los iones son partículas cargadas, y los electrolitos son soluciones de iones en el agua.

- Las proteínas son los materiales de construcción del cuerpo, y como las enzimas hacen que las reacciones celulares sucedan. Contienen nitrógeno así como carbono, hidrógeno y oxígeno.
- Muchos también contienen azufre y fósforo.
