    Este texto abarca el diseño, construcción y prueba de sistemas robóticos de campo, a través de proyectos de equipo con cada alumno responsable de un subsistema específico. Los proyectos se enfocan en electrónica, instrumentación y elementos de máquina. El diseño para operar en condiciones inciertas es un punto de enfoque, con las olas oceánicas y las estructuras marinas como tema central. Los temas incluyen estadísticas básicas, sistemas lineales, transformadas de Fourier, procesos aleatorios, espectros, ética en la práctica de ingeniería y eventos extremos con aplicaciones en diseño.
