    Las acciones grupales generalizan la multiplicación grupal. Si\(G\) es un grupo y\(X\) es un conjunto arbitrario, una acción grupal de un elemento\(g \in G\) y\(x \in X\) es un producto,\(gx\text{,}\) viviendo en\(X\text{.}\) Muchos problemas en álgebra son los mejores atacados vía acciones grupales. Por ejemplo, las pruebas de los teoremas de Sylow y del Teorema de Recuento de Burnside se entienden más fácilmente cuando se formulan en términos de acciones grupales.
